In its sixth year, Adopt an Artwork has welcomed teachers and students from all over the state in Pre-K through high school.

The Biggs Museum collaborates with educators to make the museum collection accessible and meaningful to a diverse audience.

Adopt An Artwork Training dates:

Teacher Objectives:

  • Develop lesson plans based on the Biggs Museum’s permanent collection that aligned with Delaware’s Visual and Performing Arts standards for education.
  • Expose students to object-based learning while supporting an understanding of and comfortability with art and the museum environment by participating in in-person or virtual field trips.
  • Earn professional development clock hours.

Biggs Objectives:

  • Provide teachers with the tools they need to introduce their students to and engage with art in a meaningful way.
  • Increase students’ awareness and comfort within a museum setting.
  • Serve as an effective educational resource for teachers.
  • Strengthen ties with local communities and educational
